Do you love making ridiculously delightful things? Come work with Studio HMVD

Freelance Graphic Designers

Studio HMVD is interviewing part time freelance graphic designers for day-rate projects, with the possibility of moving into a three month part-time contract.

About Studio HMVD

We’re a Brooklyn based branding and content studio led by women. We produce captivating, high-end brand identities, campaigns and content.

About the Job

During the day-rate projects (usually 1-4 days in duration), you will be working directly with Studio HMVD’s two partners. You will be asked to take the lead on development and execution of branded assets. The average day will look like a morning check-in meeting where we will discuss our briefs and plan out our day, followed by a working session where you may be creating things like mockups, website designs, logo ideations, IG posts, slide decks, email designs, and really any collateral that needs to accompany our branding work! We have frequent informal check-ins to support and give feedback, as well as a final wrap-up of our day.

Requirements

  1. 2-5 years of related work experience in design or branding
Expert knowledge of Photoshop, Illustrator, and InDesign
  2. Familiarity with Figma
  3. Self-starter, with a sense of urgency in completing projects
  4. Awareness of current/upcoming trends in design and culture
  5. A deep and abounding love for great typography
  6. Interest in design/art history for inspiration
  7. Positive attitude and a high level of excitement for our work

Nice to Haves

  1. UX/UI standards knowledge

  2. Type design interest

  3. Other related work experience in project management, strategy, illustration, copywriting, social media, etc.

What Programs Will I be Using?

As with most other design agencies, we ask that you are highly proficient in Photoshop, Illustrator, and InDesign. We also use Figma for a lot of our executional work, and will ask you to create in there as well. Previous experience or familiarity with Figma (or Sketch) is required. Less frequently, we also use After Effects, Canva, and Keynote depending on the client. And lastly, the Google Suite.

How Will I Communicated with Team Members?

We use email, Google Hangouts + Zoom, or in-person meetings.

What Level of Communication Will I Have with Clients?

During the day-rate projects, typically none as you will be working directly with us. Should we decide to move into a longer contract, that may shift with the opportunity to join presentations and email select clients directly.

Where Will I Work From?

We are very flexible! Open to fully remote, though we are putting a preference for those in Eastern time zones. As we are both fully vaccinated, we do also want to extend the option to work with us in-person as well. Typically, we work two days remote and three days in our Brooklyn studio per week.

What Hours Will I be Working?

For the day-rate projects, we expect a 9-5 schedule. Should we move into a longer contract, we would likely renegotiate the times, as they wont be based on a day rate.

What Does This J-O-B Pay?

$300-450 per day, dependent on experience. Any longer contract will be renegotiated based on experience and time commitment.

Okay, How do I Apply?

Please email hireme@studiohmvd.com with the subject line Freelance Designer. Please provide a resumé, and a portfolio PDF or website, as well as a litttle bit about yourself and your interest in working with Studio HMVD.

Freelance Retoucher

Studio HMVD is in search of detail-oriented freelance retouchers for an immediate project as well as for future projects down the line

About Studio HMVD

We’re a Brooklyn based branding and content studio led by women. We produce captivating, high-end brand identities, campaigns and content.

About the Job

We provide clear and concise retouching notes in the form of a PDF, have a call to review and answer any questions, and then pass along raw images, usually with either completed edits to use as references, or a camera raw filter preset. We typically shoot 2-3 plates per image which are used for focal stacking, etc. We prefer to receive images back in the form of a flattened PSD or TIFF.

On jobs with large asset numbers we may be in the process of partially retouching most or all images, and may need you to jump in on specific areas of an image.

We appreciate retouching that's precise, high-fidelity and keeps the integrity of the original image intact.

Fully remote, flexible on time-zone so long as you’re available at some point 9-5 ET to review work together on Zoom.
