Woodward Extract Co. makes flavors that tantalize the senses and add life to cocktails, baked goods and cooked dishes. And yes, they’re small-batch and made in Brooklyn.
When Studio HMVD started working with Amy Nazer, founder of Woodward Extract Co. about 5-6 months ago, she had put years of time and effort into her business, but was burnt out and overwhelmed by the future. She needed an outside observer to breathe new life into the brand.
We engage with Woodward across all touchpoints of their brand— from the overall storytelling & copywriting, to social media content and packaging. It is an ongoing relationship where we're always creating new work to maintain the brand.
Our first step in the process of rebranding Woodward Extract Co. was a strategy workshop in which we distilled Amy’s process & philosophies into two pillars:
Food & Science
is what Woodward promises to deliver through their products. As the daughter of a dietitian and a chemist, founder Amy aims to use the highest quality ingredients, and constantly experiments with new processes to get the best results.
Rigor & Whimsy
are the values that drives Woodward’s working and business processes. There’s a strong methodology to the way the products are created, sometimes going through up to 20 iterations before reaching the final batch.
However, flavor extracts themselves amuse, transport and delight. Living among herbs and spices creating wonderful smelling tinctures has a certain magic to it, a whimsical side. These values marry the two halves to create a delicate balance.
