Our client, Woodward Extract Co., comissioned us to strategize and execute a delightful holiday activation to coincide with their Kickstarter campaign and Holiday Cocktail Kit product launch. We designed packaging, styled & shot photographs, and consumed some yummy winter cocktails along the way.
The Holiday Cocktail Kit consists of 4 seasonal flavor extracts and recipe cards for 4 drinks.
Douglas Fir
Douglas Fir was featured in Allison Kave's reinvented aquavit martini, delightfully named A Wee Tit Nipply. A cold, crisp drink. The first taste is an icy edge, the second sip descends into an enchanting, deadly warmth. It reminded us of the first snowfall of a Pacific Northwest winter. It's not a cruel Northeast winter. No, there's something wet and welcoming, with air that clings to your nose and droplets that run to the tips of fir needles. Inviting & deceptive. This drink is a walk in the first snowfall— perhaps from the car to the warm home of a friend, or an aimless stroll over gravel roads, ice crunching underfoot.
Yes, we made the snow.
Allspice
Allspice makes an appearance in Katipai Richardson-Wilson's The Good Neighbor, a rum Old Fashioned. This is an Old Fashioned who’s met someone like you before. It’s Burt Reynolds on a bearskin rug, with a splash of post-party self-loathing. It’s ready for you to admit too much, or maybe just enough. Bask in its afterglow like the heat of a fire, sip the sweet muddled sugar at the end. This is apres-ski, after-walk, always pre-dinner. This is the Old Fashioned that greets you at the door.
Rosemary
Rosemary bubbles up in another Katipai Richardson-Wilson concoction: Pabla's Poinsettia. It's an effervescent hibiscus-paloma, with a charming herby finish, that perfectly encapsulates the feeling when the party moves from the living room to the kitchen, in a pilgrimage towards mealtime. The kitchen is a sacred space on holidays, the heaven of flavor. Fluorescent light bathes the countertop— the altar of taste. There’s a sense of chaos, amplified by egg timers, heat and the morsels snatched. The Rosemary & Grapefruit combo is perfectly pink & green— a neon Christmas.
Nutmeg
Nutmeg perfectly compliments Allison Kave's low ABV variation on the classic bamboo, “Bamboozled.” Imagine sipping this around the table in a post-dinner-pants-don’t-fit-haze, where there’s yellow light and warm wood paneling. Games are left half-played, snacks half-eaten. The sherry, vermouth, and nutmeg lulls you to sleep, the final nightcap on a delghtful evening.
